Resolution of Condolence for Harry S. Irvine, Jr., MD

WHEREAS Harry Irvine, Jr. passed away January 1, 2008 at age 86; and
WHEREAS he had been a faithful member of the Oregon Academy and the American Academy of Family Physicians for 52 years; and
WHEREAS Dr. Irvine graduated from OHSU, as did his father, Harry S. Irvine, Sr., his brother, Willis J. Irvine, his son David J. Irvine, and his great-niece, Megan Wills; and
WHEREAS He served as a physician with the Marines in San Diego during World War II; and
WHEREAS Dr. Irvine spent the rest of his medical profession in private practice, initially with his father and brother and then in his office in the Hollywood District of Portland; and
WHEREAS He was an elder and active member in his church, served as team physician for youth sports, football and boxing, mentored young physicians; and
WHEREAS he was an exemplary physician and inspiration to his colleagues; and will be sorely missed by his family, fellow physicians, friends and patients;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution of condolence be placed before the AAFP Congress of Delegates and
FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be conveyed to Dr. Irvine's wife Sammy Lea and his children, Jim and Mary Beth Irvine, Lucinda Doran and Robert Stern, Dr. David and Lois Irvine, Jack and Brenda Irvine, and his step children Sherry and Elbert Garbooden and Terri Ackerson.
